Ladies, here’s how to shed the everyday stresses of life.

Men have “man caves” where they can escape, why shouldn’t women have their own escapes? Well, there’s a new trend to help ladies everywhere shed the stresses of the everyday: ladies, say hello to the “She Shed.” “She Sheds” are typically constructed in a backyard alcove, and exude a quaint cottage feel. These backyard sanctuaries are perfect for reading, creating, gardening, or even napping. There are no rules to building a She Shed; they’re anything you want them to be (and then some).
There are entire hashtags (#SheShed) and Pinterest boards dedicated to the trend, chock full of gorgeous sheds covered pastel paint and flower vases, surrounded by lush green gardens. Of course, you can decorate it however you want. See below some tips for optimum output:

1. Find the Area
First and foremost, you need the perfect spot to build your personal sanctuary. If the luxury of a backyard shed goes amiss, a basement or a personal corner in a room would work nicely.

2. Figure Out Your “She Shed” Purpose
Some ladies prefer a comfy couch and a range of books, others want a place to be able to have a nap. Figure out what makes you feel relaxed and plan your space to suit your needs. Some ideas: A meditation room, a yoga room, a space for a day bed, a writing nook or an art and craft space with a canvas and an easel. If you have the patience, it can even be a miniature greenhouse with herbs and flowers you can attend to.

3. Get ready to Paint and Decorate
This, of course, is the most fun part of the entire experience. You can go with string lights, candles or opt for paper lanterns and a colour pallet to suit your taste. It’s all about making you feel comfortable.

4. Make It an Ongoing Project
The beauty of having your own space is the process of creating it. Your She Shed doesn’t have to stay the same; change it up by rotating different flowers by season, hang up new paintings every now and then or rotate your selection of books on display. The variations are indeed endless.
