Frequently Asked Questions
Where are Latex Mattress Australia’s showrooms?
We have three showrooms: Springwood in Brisbane (4 Barrinia Street, QLD 4127), Mosman in Sydney (515 Military Road, NSW 2088), and Armadale in Melbourne (1260 High Street, VIC 3143). Each carries the full range of natural latex mattresses to try in person.
Can I try a latex mattress before I buy?
Yes. Every showroom displays the full collection, so you can lie down and compare firmnesses in your own time. A Sleep Specialist can guide you, and walk-ins are welcome — though booking a consultation guarantees dedicated one-on-one time.
Are your mattresses made in Australia?
Yes. Every mattress is handcrafted in our Springwood workshop in Queensland, using 100% natural latex certified by Eco Institut. We’ve been making mattresses in Australia since 1955 and hold the Australian Made and Owned licence.
How long does a latex mattress last?
A quality natural latex mattress typically outlasts a spring or foam mattress by many years. Ours are made using the traditional Dunlop process and backed by a 21-year guarantee — one of the longest in the Australian mattress industry — reflecting how long we expect them to last.
Do latex mattresses sleep hot?
Natural latex has an open, breathable cell structure and is pin-cored to let air move through the mattress, so it tends to sleep cooler than memory foam. Many of our customers who found foam too warm tell us this is why they switched to latex.
Do latex mattresses have a smell?
Natural latex has a mild, natural scent when new that fades within a few days of airing. Because our latex is certified by Eco Institut, it’s tested to be free of the harmful substances and off-gassing associated with synthetic foams.
Are latex mattresses worth it?
For most people buying a mattress to keep for 15 to 20 years, yes. A natural latex mattress costs more upfront than mass-produced foam, but its durability, natural materials and long guarantee make it an investment measured over decades rather than years.
What’s the difference between natural and synthetic latex?
Natural latex is made from the sap of the rubber tree; synthetic and blended latex contain petroleum-based compounds. Our mattresses use 100% natural latex, which is more durable, more breathable and free of the synthetic fillers found in cheaper blends. Learn more about comparing latex.
Do I need an appointment to visit?
No — walk-ins are welcome during trading hours. If you’d like uninterrupted time with a Sleep Specialist, you can book a consultation in advance.
