RECOMMENDED BASE GUIDELINES
HAVE YOU PURCHASED A MATTRESS FROM US?
Follow these bed base guidelines to support your Latex Mattress Australia mattress.
A good foundation is key as a supportive base, supports your mattress and you. To fully realise the natural support and comfort characteristics of your handcrafted Latex Mattress Australia mattress, your mattress needs to be properly supported.
RECOMMENDED BASE 1 - TIMBER SLAT BED BASE
For slatted bases, ensure that the spacing between the slats is no wider than the width of the slats. For example, if a slat is 65mm thick, ensure that the space between the slats is no more than 65mm. Wider slats can be used, however spacing can not exceed 75mm. A centre support rail is a must for king-sized beds.
If you don’t have enough slats, visit your local hardware and they can measure and cut additional slats for you. We recommend taking an existing slat with you so they can get the exact measurements.
RECOMMENDED BASE 2 - ADJUSTABLE BED BASE
Latex is a perfect fit for an Adjustable Base as it flexes to the movement of the base while still supporting the mattress (and you).
You can purchase a Latex Mattress Australia Glide Adjustable Base. Visit our Adjustable Base page for further information.
WE DON’T RECOMMEND:
If your base flexes or sags, your new mattress will contour to it. Slat systems, box spring, posture slats, or foundations that flex or concave should be avoided and will void your guarantee as they don’t support your mattress and will impact your sleep and comfort requirements.
Adjustable Bases Faq
To ensure the longevity and continued enjoyment of your base, keep the area under your base clean and dust-free. Do not store items under the bed as it may impede the mechanics.
Cleaning
- Use a soft, damp cloth to wipe down the base
- Use a vacuum to remove dust and debris
- Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners
- For stains, use mild soap and warm water
Checking for wear and tear
- Look for loose screws, damaged wires or malfunctioning components
- Listen for unusual noises
- Check that all parts are intact and functioning correctly
Tightening
- Check that headboard brackets (if installed) are tight and secure
- Check that the legs are tight
The Latex Mattress Australia Glide Adjustable Base comes with a 10 year guarantee which covers faulty workmanship and structural defects of the frame, electrics and motor from date of purchase (original purchaser only). This guarantee is only valid for the first purchaser of the adjustable base and proof of purchase must be provided.

Replacements for most parts of the base are available.
As regular improvements are made to the bases and mechanics, we continuously strive for optimal performance. If an issue arises with a specific part, photographs of the part's label, including the part and serial numbers, may be required to accurately identify the correct replacement part.
A ‘clicking’ noise from the motor is completely normal whenever the bed is raising or lowering.
If the noise sounds like metal scraping against metal, avoid raising or lowering the base and contact Latex Mattress Australia for guidance.
If all other functions of the base are working, and the massage function has stopped, firstly check that the connectors for the massage motors haven’t come loose.
Under the bed, locate the control box. You will find multiple cables plugged into this box. Please ensure each cable is securely and fully inserted into the box to guarantee proper functionality.
If the massage function is still not working, contact Latex Mattress Australia here and one of our Sleep Specialists will be in touch.
Our adjustable base remotes come with a one-year guarantee. Replacement remotes are available for a fee. Contact Latex Mattress Australia here and one of our Sleep Specialists will be able to assist.
Adjustable headboard brackets are included with every base. Instructions for fitting the headboard brackets are included in the manual for the base.
As every headboard is unique, discuss the best way to attach your headboard to the brackets with a local handyman or hardware specialist.
If you require additional copies of the headboard attachment instructions, contact Latex Mattress Australia here and one of our Sleep Specialists will be in touch.
Each base contains 4x 7.5cm (3”) legs and 4x 15cm (6”) legs. By changing or combining these legs the height of the base can be altered to suit your needs.
The simplest way to change the height of the base is to remove your mattress and carefully tip the base on its side. Unscrew the current legs and either swap to the other sized leg, or join both legs together and screw in the legs.
The rubber foot snaps out so it can be inserted into whichever piece will be against the floor.
